Just experimenting with 3D images in Bryce and GIMP. The preview is a cross-eyed stereoimage. The yin-yang symbol was created in GIMP and imported into Bryce as a grayscale bitmap terrain, which then makes it a 3D object.

Two separate renderings were created to simulate the left and right eye views.

There are 3 files in this download: A parallel version (look straight ahead and try to see through the images until a third image is produced. Focus on that third image. I have a really hard time with this type, so I can't give better instructions than that. So, you may need to Google for more help.); a cross-eyed version (cross your eyes until a third image appears and focus on this new image.); red-cyan color anaglyph (requires the 3D glasses, which you can get at hobby shops).

Enjoy!

I like the way it just hangs there looking totally real in a void of nothingness that isn't either black or white.

It's a brave person that posts cross eye views and hopes people will be able to see them. When I first discovered this technique years ago, I was so excited, and immediately began planning my first exhibition with huge prints. Then I discovered that hardly anyone can actually see them, and I suspect that even some of the people that say they can see it are not really getting it.
I still did heaps of stuff for my own pleasure, and convert the occasional piece into anaglyphs, but then there's the obvious colour loss, plus you tend to get fringing, especially if you print them out. I don't have any 3D programs, which would make things so easy. I do everything in photoshop.

There's some great depth in this, and I especially like the bowling of the right hand side, as opposed to the convex left. The holes work well too. I'm inspired to attempt a 3D hole in photoshop. Tricky!

Life's too short to do the same art twice.

For me, creating art is a lot like drinking from a spittoon. Once I start, it's impossible to stop until I've finished.

Dr. House: Ah! The husband described her as being unusually irritable recently.
Dr. Cameron: And?
Dr. House: I didn't know it was possible for a woman to be unusually irritable.

Well, I can't take credit for being clever as it's not something I discovered. But I will take credit for figuring out the new submittal system here on dA, which I do like, BTW!

Thanks for the comments.
