Here are the steps I utilize to remove objects from their backgrounds (a.k.a. cutting out renders, rendering, etc. Yeah, I know those aren’t correct terms, but that’s what everybody’s calling it these days). Once you get the objects removed, you can place them anywhere you want: signatures, avatars, wallpapers, new backgrounds, etc.

If you're new to GIMP paths, you might want to consider downloading this tutorial first (GIMP Paths Part 1 [link]).

The tutorial is in htm format. Just download the zip file to your hard drive and extract both the file folder and html file to your desktop (or other convenient location). Double-click on the htm file and you can view it whenever your heart desires.
