I absolutely love the ocean at night, especially in the Caribbean! Here's hoping that my wife and I can make it there again this fall for our 20th anniversary. Click Download for full-size.

This was a lot of fun to do...again I learned so much about Bryce. This tutorial was the starting point: [link] The "props" (i.e. palms and mountains) were basic Bryce defaults. I tweaked the materials on the palms so they give the silhouette appearance. For the mountains I ran them through the terrain editor and worked them over a little. I'm not overly satisfied with the water texture as it looks too blue for night, but I'll experiment more with this later. I'm pleased with the moon and the overall lighting "rig" I came up with. That was the best part of this whole exercise! In the coming days, I'd like to figure out how to add some "foam" to the waves and incorporate a beach, one that looks good, by the palms. My original beach smelled of rotten fish so I left it out....

One thing I am disappointed about though: I've read on numerous websites that you shouldn't use "Gamma Correction" for your renders. Well, I thought I had it turned off, but didn't. My whole light setup was calculated with it on. When I discovered that it wasn't disabled and turned it off, the scene went almost black. I didn't want to invest any more time tonight on figuring out a fix, but I'll attempt that later.
