Figured out how to create animated kaleidoscope images in GIMP using GAP. This was my first six-sided one and was killer to get because of the angles. Still honing my technique on creating them, but I'm pretty pleased with the results.

Tutorial will follow on how to create a four-sided one. I'm certainly not gonna try to explain a six-sider!

Hey, there! GAP can be scary....the interface certainly leaves a LOT to be desired, but once you get down some basic tools, you realize how powerful it is. I've got a bunch of GAP tutorials posted here at dA in my gallery. If you're interested, take any of them for a test drive. I try my best to explain everything in great detail so even those who are a bit frightened by the GAP-monster, can find out that it's just an oversized shadow under the bed! :) I'm here to help. So, if you've got any questions, I'll do my best to get you an answer!

Thanks! I guess GAP is a lot like Blender in that aspect then... Very hard to learn, but when you do.. ;)

OOOPS ...sorry for the typos, there is no edit features for message...i hope you get the sense of my message...square are to map easily deleting most of poetry and magic

But triangles and spheres are more connected to the nature of the visible...and of what lie beyond the visible

six sized idea make me hot!

But what about 3 sided...could you figure out something?

(human get the idea of squares to misure the things
but magicians, wizard and even religious know that more secret and mistery are connected with triangle)

We have Cristian trinity and Hindu Trimurty ...only burocrats and accounts clerks needs to make univers mapped in squres and cubes to unserstund it

And so they loose magic, mistery and what is beyond at the roots of our being.

not a critique to you...and even square are good if we don't forget triangle and circles...and pyramyds and spheres...

Oh, yeah, odd numbers are easy to do as well. In fact, if you check out my screensaver, you'll notice it's a 5-sided version. I even did a 7-sided one for my work computer.....3 is a piece of cake!
