Another animation tutorial from yours truly! For lack of a better name, I've called this Flowing Water. Please don't flame me and tell me it really doesn't look like real water. I'm well aware of that! This is more an exercise in how to give your animations a sense of moving along the horizon. OK? OK.

This tutorial requires GIMP and the GIMP Animation Package (GAP). However, don't let the GAP program scare you away. We'll only be using a cool feature of it called the "Filter All Layers" filter. It's very straightforward and I promise it will be painless.

The tutorial is in html format. So, just download the zip file to a convenient location, like your desktop. Double-click the zip file and move the html file and the "files" folder to your desktop (the files folder and html file must be in the same location for the images to show up.) Double-click the html file and the tutorial will open.

Although nothing is required for you to download and use this tutorial, giving me a fave would be a simple way to show your thanks. Just click the :+fav: Add to Favorites link on the left side of the page, near the top. You don't even have to give me comments. Come on, people, show a little bit of love for someone who takes the time and effort to do the hard work of preparing these tutorials for your enjoyment and learning.

Enjoy!

This looks fantabulous (fantastic and fabulous all rolled into one)
I just need to ask, where might one look if one was looking to download the GAP package? :floating:

Thanks for the wondarvelous comments!! (that's wonderful and marvelous in one....yeah I know I'm really stretching it, but it's 4AM and I need to be in bed!)

If you have Windows, you can get it here (very bottom of the page) - just unzip and double-click the self-installer: [link]

And for *nix: [link] (I have no clue how to do that one :D)

Let me know how it goes. Glad to talk to you again.

Yeah I've been keeping a lil of a low profile as I've been very busy with work (I am most ashamed to admit it)
But I am starting a course in Digital Media in a matter of weeks, which means much much more fiddling with computery stuff so you will hear more from me then.
Will check out the extensions etc when I can be bothered coz for now, I just want my bed.
Take care :aww:

OOOOhhhhh! Damn, that's something I've been playing with just this past week... Right on time. Looks absotively great (since we're combining words today...) Can't wait to muck with what you came up with. Liquid surfaces have been a HUGE focus of mine for a piece I'm currently working on. This should help. Thanks a bunch!

Dr. House: Ah! The husband described her as being unusually irritable recently.
Dr. Cameron: And?
