May 29, 2010: Modified the script so that if there's a selection active, the satin will only fill the selected area. Please delete the previous satin script prior to installing this new version.

This GIMP script will create a satin texture based on the steps found in my tutorial here: [link]

This script will NOT work in GIMP 2.2. You can find that one: [link]

On an open image, just go to Filters > Render > Satin... and a window will appear allowing you to choose the color, the color depth, and color lightness. If you just leave the defaults, it will be the same "dark pink" color as described in the tutorial.

Click on the Download link to get the text file and save it to your GIMP scripts folder (ie....C:\Program Files\GIMP-2.X\share\gimp\2.0\scripts) and then go to Xtns > Script-Fu > Refresh Scripts.

Great script!

Only thing that I would have done differently is add more color control to it. I'd do it myself but I know ZERO about scripting in Gimp. I sat here for about 20 minutes trying to get a Royal Blue.

Still a 9 on the 10 scale of cool scripts!

Cool script! Only thing I really can't get the knack of is the color. Sat there for 20 minutes trying to get a nice royal blue. Grrrr!

i dont get the dircetion in which u say in an open image i look in my flifter thing to go to see baout my statin thing andf i cant find it i refreshed it like 10 times it aitn working pls help me >.< :(

This is so great, but how do I use it to only satin-ize a small portion of the picture? I've tried selecting an area and then working through there, but it insists on making the entire picture a piece of satin.
