April 1, 2010: Big updates to the script! Removed some items that I felt were just cluttering it up and added some new options AND some GIMPressionist settings.
If you had the previous Animated Fire script installed, please delete it.
You can now modify the noise levels, adjust the active layer blend mode, and adjust the flame layers blend modes. I've removed a couple of features in order to keep the script dialog from being too big (it's already big enough). One of these features is setting the speed of the animation (it automatically assigns 41 ms to each frame.)
Copy GIMPressionist presets to your GIMP Gimpressionist Presets Folder (ie..C:\Documents and Settings\username\.gimp-2.6\gimpressionist\Presets)
Copy script (.scm file) to your GIMP scripts folder (ie.. C:\Documents and Settings\username\.gimp-2.6\scripts)
Refresh your scripts (Filters > Script-Fu > Refresh Scripts)
Run the script (Filters > Animation > Animated Fire....)

This script is based on the tutorial found here:[link]
In addition to the new options briefly described above, the script has several other choices.
Script Options
If you create a layer with transparency around it (just like the text in the animated preview), you can tell the script to add it above the flames. This is the default option. Make sure you create the layer just like you want it and choose the desired blend mode.
You can also use a "mask" to cut the flames to a particular shape. Here's a link to the different mask options:
Background filled in with color around mask [link]
In both cases, you need to choose a mask background color . In the transparency option, the mask background color will be used to reduce jagged edges. Pick a color that closely matches the background color of the webpage you're placing it on.
Technical Difficulty: Gimp version: 2.8 Problem: The script window is too big. Proof: [link]
I know this is for gimp 2.6, but is there anyways for a 2.8 version? If so. Then - I don't mean to be annoying since there might already be a lot of people here that requested you stuff... * You might have to make one for the new version.
You, Professor, can seriously help me to help a young guitar whiz. How can I get you out of retirement? This kid can actually teach the backwards guitar stuff you've heard from Hendrix - Kramer recorded him - I paid for it. I've played for more than 40 years - Bach to Hendrix - and I haven't seen a savant like this. Give me an email and I'll send you some unreleased tracks. I'm almost 60 and definitely not a stalking guy - that you play is the factor. I'm portboy and you can hit that at g mail - not complicated si? What I want to accomplish is your flame thingie active on a moving Fender Custom Strat - and any input from you to help attract attention to a totally superior musical artiste
I downloaded it and all...But I'm having one problem...The box that appears when you click on it to change your options is too big for my screen, and I can't click the ok to get it made...Help?
Gimp version: 2.8
