October 6, 2008: I've modified the script to run in GIMP 2.6 (the newest stable version). It should work in 2.4, as well.

This simple script is more of a gimic than anything, but it's still fun! It creates an rain-like animation from a single image, just like the one in the preview above. Although scripts of this nature are fun, I suggest taking a look at the tutorial as it's good to know how to accomplish the steps without the script.
Just click on the download link to open the script in your browser window and then save it (File Menu > Save) in your GIMP scripts folder (ie....C
Then, go to the main GIMP window (not the image window) and choose the Xtns Menu > Script-FU > Refresh Scripts and it should appear in the Image Window under the Filters Menu > Animation > Rain...
You set the number of frames the animation will have, how much rain, the blur of the rain, the angle at which it falls, and the speed of the animation. You can also add a border of the chosen color and size (up to 3 pixels wide).
