This is a GIMP version 2.2 script version of my Lord of the Rings Text Tutorial located here: [link]
Thanks to Fatal Edge and circledancer at gimptalk.com for assisting with getting this into GIMP vs. 2.2.
Just add some text to your image, click on the script (Script-Fu Menu > Alpha to Logo >Lord of the Rings...) and choose the settings you desire. My preview above was created by adding 3 separate text layers of various font sizes, merging them together and then running the script using the default settings. There are 3 different gradient blend styles to choose from: Dimpled, Angled, and Spherical. Dimpled looks the best to me so I've set it as the default. But, experiment to see what looks best to you.
It works well on any font, giving it a hard-chiseled edge, but obviously works best on the Ringbearer font, which you can download here ([link]) and elsewhere on the web.
Just click on the download link to open the script in your browser window and then save it (File Menu > Save) in your GIMP scripts folder (ie....C:\Program Files\GIMP-2.x\share\gimp\2.0\scripts)
Then, go to the main GIMP window (not the image window) and choose the Xtns Menu > Script-FU > Refresh Scripts. Go to the Script-Fu Menu > Alpha to Logo >Lord of the Rings...to access the script. This works in GIMP version 2.2.
and yes this for sure would work also in 2.8 ,as now trow a harmless warning..but i set up my gimp to silently redirect warning to the error console instead then popping them easy to do..just add the error console tab somewhere and no more pops
Glad you like it! Thanks. I think I'll take you up on your request....shouldn't be too difficult at all. Keep your eyes open and thanks for the suggestion.
I actually have most of the script done, but it doesn't work well with "fatter" fonts. I'm thinking about adding a feature to help improve that, but I just don't how to approach it yet. I'll let you know.

If you like and have some time and look for a idea for your next script, maybe you would like to code a script to do this [link] ?
