This is a very simple effect with a nice result; a great beginner tutorial! I'm using GIMP 2.4 for the screenshots, but this can easily be done in GIMP 2.2. However, the menu layouts may be different. If you run into any snags, let me know.

I've picked out two of your tutorials and really appreciate the straight-forward manner that you used to prepare them. My pieces are Fractals in Apophysis and I'm just starting to explore textured backgrounds and more elaborate watermarkings. Creating picture frames and/or multiple mats for a virtual gallery (real world style) display is next. Then manipulations.

Hey I tried downloading it and my computer is messed up so it didn't work then I tried using the online link and it said it couldn't be found so i got redirected to gimpdome.com help please?

Try downloading the pdf again. I just tried it and it works. You're right about the link at gimpdome. The forum was recently reworked and it appears to have broken some links. For the life of me, I can't find it there either. :( I'll see if I can locate it and will update you. Thanks for bringing this to my attention.

Thank you so much! I used some of these techniques a few months ago on a signature but couldn't remember what I'd done to make it. Your tutorial helped me remember and gave me a few new tricks.

Also, I love all your tutorials, they're all so easy to understand, no matter how complicated the actual work is.

Although I didn't use this tut for what you intended it to be for, you've helped me to discover how to make pixelated camoflauge patterns. Will come in usefull when I start colouring properly on GIMP. Thanks for sharing! ^^ :iconredbullglompplz:
