WOW! How time flies. I last posted in my journal in mid-December 2006. Not for lack of things to say, but lack of time to put things down into pixels. Lots of changes going on in the world of fencepost.
I've really gone into high gear with 3D. My favorite program is Art of Illusion. Wonderful program with a great community. Here's their main forum link where you can find lots of tutorials, help, and links to other sites including the download site and their Wiki (friendlyskies.net/aoiforum/ind…)
GIMP is still playing a central role in my graphic exploration, but has again taken a backseat to something else. Read my previous paragraph if you need more information.
Gimpdome.com, where I help as a moderator, is undergoing some growth spurts right now. There are also some growing 'pains' involved with the spurt (forum was inaccessible for almost a week), but there's still a LOT happening there. All good stuff though. Can't really go into the details at the moment, but keep your eyes on the dome and watch as the site begins to blossom!
Because of the gimpdome happenings, I've decided that it's necessary to change my focus, so that I can be of more help to droz and the other admins/mods. Probably the biggest change will be my brush conversion project that I've been doing since mid-2005.
A couple of weeks ago, droz (droz928.deviantart.com/) sent me a note and said he was going to quit the brush conversion project so he could focus more on his artwork, gimpdome.com, and most importantly, his family.
I was a bit bummed at first because the inevitable finally happened....not only for droz, but for myself as well. Why was I bummed? Yeah, I know they're just digital brushes. But the process has become a real extension of me and has allowed me to 'meet' some wonderful people on the web with a common interest. So, in that sense, I'm bummed. I feel like I'm letting go of a good friend. But, like droz, the time has come for me to 'pass the torch' to someone else. I may do a set here or there....just to keep my digital skills sharp, but no new conversions/uploads are planned anytime soon.
If you'd like to do your own conversions, you can find some valuable information at our Project-GimpBC site.
The one thing that won't change is my tutorial writing. I've got a bunch of stuff that's been in the works for a long time, and I really promise to get those posted soon. The list includes (not in any particular order):
Denim Part II - Creating seams, stitching, etc.
Using Paths in GIMP GAP Animations - Here's some links to some WIP's using the techniques: img.photobucket.com/albums/v29… & img255.imageshack.us/img255/93…
I also plan on doing some more Art of Illusion tutorials as I learn about that program.
There are some others on the docket, but none earth shattering.
If you'd like to see a Photoshop tutorial converted to GIMP, feel free to send me a note with your request. If time permits, I'll certainly give it consideration.
Well, that's about all for now. Time to go attend to some other duties....*snicker....I said duties!.....snicker*
Until next time, keep on bending pixels!
Take care and God Bless!

I've Been Caught by the Bug!
Uh, oh!!! I've gotten the bug again! The GIMP bug, that is! For some strange reason, I felt the need to start up graphics again and I'm in the process of updating old tutorials/scripts and writing new ones. Don't know if this is a good thing or not, but it is, what it is! LOL
Cheers!

Hard to believe...
It's hard to believe that it's been 2.5 years since I've posted anything new or responded to comments. I got out of graphics for awhile due to other interests (mainly my guitar!), but just recently started dabbling in the visual arts again. I'll probably never devote as much time to artwork as I once did, but I hope to post something in the future. But, I sure have a LOT of dust & rust to remove before much of anything gets posted. If you don't use your skills, you will lose them! :)
To those of you who have commented, sent me private messages, and asked for assistance, please forgive me for not responding. It's certainly never been my p
It's been over a year....
Since my last journal update. And, once again, I can't respond to the 1900 comments I've received. Thanks to everyone for your kind words on my artwork. Things are going very well and with my new computer I plan on doing a lot more. Best wishes to everyone and happy GIMPing!

Global Thanks and Apology
I would like to take this opportunity to everyone who has commented or faved my work over the last couple of months. Your kind words are greatly appreciated. Unfortunately, my message box is well over a thousand and there's no way I can reply to everyone. So, that being said, I'm globally thanking everyone today and asking you to forgive me for not responding individually. For those of you who know me, you know this is a great departure for me, as I ALWAYS respond. But, I just can't do it. It started out as a lack of interest in graphics, my monitor conked out, then my grandmother passed away, then back-to-back surgeries for my wife....
